You can make sourdough bread anywhere in the world, but there are only a handful of places in the entire world that have the absolutely perfect conditions to allow for truly delicious sourdough bread to be made. San Francisco, with its unique mix of temperature and moisture, is one of these spots, and during the California Gold Rush, French bakers brought sourdough baking techniques to the West Coast.
Sourdough is one of the healthiest breads due to higher levels of folate (a B-Vitamin) and lower levels of phylate, allowing better absorption of nutrients.
Not only is our sourdough made without preservatives, but it also contains lower amounts of gluten, and it is better for blood sugar control. Sourdough also contains prebiotic content and probiotic-like properties!
